Being Five was Yellow
Sweet cream rising,
luminescent buttercup under my chin,
afloat in a sea of goldenrod and tansy,
sun speckled creek banks shining,
pick mint for the lemonade like mom does,
rolling in moss watching daylight
melting like butterscotch into the forest,
glimmering yolk of sun,
hopscotch all the way home. |
